Age regression and how it affects a person.

Age regression is: A coping mechanism, a form of escapism technically, but hey, who doesn’t like a little escape? Littles, like anybody, are normal human beings deserving of love, care, affection, and respect. They just do something outside of the (Boring!) ordinary. Today, I’ll tell you all I know about it. (Which is a lot, as I am an age regressor!)

Why someone (might!) age regress.

The most common reason someone regresses is childhood trauma, the feeling you didn’t get a real childhood. So your brain makes one! A person can also regress simply because they’re stressed, whether this is because of school, work, or you just got into a fight with someone doesn’t matter.

Stress is stress, no matter how much it is, it gets hard to carry. Having this escape, it feels like finally getting to breathe after being held underwater.

What it looks like.

First and foremost, it rarely looks exactly the same for any two people. But some common things you can see are: the use of pacifiers, bottles, sippy cups, teethers, coloring books, childish accessories, coloring books, childlike speech, intensified emotions and reactions, watching cartoons, getting confused at something an adult would typically be able to do, and much more that I don’t have the time to write, and you probably don’t have the time to read.

How it affects a person and those around them.

For the person who regresses, it is not always a happy thing. If the people around you don’t accept it, you can get put into really bad situations. You are far easier to take advantage of in a state like that. Because your brain is literally in the mindset of a child, you are that age in every way but body. It can be very scary because some people can’t control when it happens. So you could be at work and slip into little space, and that’s a terrifying possibility. On the flip side, if you know someone who regresses, it can be confusing if you don’t know what’s happening. Which, if you're in this position, is probably why you're here in the first place. So, here’s what you should do: Accept them as they are, and make sure they don’t make any childish mistakes(sticking a fork in an outlet.) Stay with them while they are regressed, and when they’re out, talk to them!
